V Is For Vigilante

In Final Instalment Of Our A-Z Series Comrade Chris Starts Off By Looking At Vigilantes

VIGILANTES were originally former Confederate soldiers who would hunt down freed slaves after the American Civil War.

The term was used as well, to refer to groups of workers who resisted the attempts of bandits trying to steal their livelihoods from them.

Later on, vigilantes such as Batman were popularised in comic books.

Nowadays in Britain, the word seems to mean either “a person who films a crime in progress” or a “Paedo Hunter”

Now I see the need for communities to protect themselves, it is a communal act. However, these modern vigilantes tend to go after the low-hanging fruit.

They won’t take out the local bully and his mates,

they won’t take out a smack dealer or a house-robbing gang. They won’t get the rogue trader ripping off your nan.

They often don’t even get the right person

People grouping together is a good thing, and using force for a good cause is acceptable, but going off half-cocked doesn’t help anyone.

This force should be used against the people who cause lasting damage to us all. 

The businessmen, politicians and media magnates that keep us workers living in relative poverty and find ways to make us occasionally feel good about ourselves, like when we see a paedo get filled in.

Most importantly, summary violence should only be used alongside a background of information, otherwise it is only mob violence, and those who have all the information will always control a mob for their ends, not ours.

We are often told our WAY OF LIFE is under threat, by everyone from terrorists to traffic wardens.

What is our way of life?

Is it being able to eat a bacon butty and have a pint of best?

We can still do that, though its becoming increasingly expensive

Is it to make as much money as one can, at the expense of not just foreigners, but the majority of British people?

Is it the ability to vote every four years to change nothing but the colour of the Prime Minister’s tie?

Is our way of life to not give a fuck about anyone but yourself and leave no legacy but a trail of crisp packets and dog shit?

Or is it to help one another, enjoy free time in good company and work hard for a fair reward?

It should be. I would like to change that “way of life” and that is what we should all be trying to do, many already are.

While this is not a political point, someone who won’t look up the difference between them will probably not look up anything else, instead just repeating the views of others.

YELLOW JOURNALISM means putting sensationalism before facts. 

If anyone has read a newspaper lately, you will have realised that all mainstream journalism does this, so I don’t even know why they have a special word for it.

As ZIONISM is the idea of a Jewish state existing in the historical homeland of the Jews, despite being oppsed by deeply religious Jews and being an idea conjured up by an anti-semitic MP, it is ridiculous to conflate anti-zionism with anti-semitism. As is done by our media.

It is as ridiculous as opposing Welsh speaking Patagonians trying to reclaim their homeland in Britain and being called “anti-cymraig” for not wanting to get booted out of our homes.

P.S There is no such thing as a Patagonian Homeland Movement, I was just imagining something as daft as zionism.
