The Labour Party Grovels To Wall Street and the City of London
The recent conference organised by the Labour government saw Keir Starmer doing the only thing that he really enjoys, hanging out with and grovelling to the richest people in the world. Starmer and Rayner (the fanfare of the common woman herself) spent two days telling people like Larry Fink (of Blackrock infamy) how much they would welcome these Wall Street parasites “investment” in Britain. As with the previous Tory governments headed by Johnson and Sunak, so much of Starmers plans revolve around selling off large parts of Britain and calling it “investment”. We know from the admissions of the poisonous plastic faced poltroon Wesley Streeting that the labour party plan to continue their decades long track record of selling off the health service to (largely American) corporations and we see from Starmers sustained act of genuflection last week that this is a policy he intends to apply even more widely. The involvement of such Wall Street vampires as Blackrock should send a clear signal to all workers about what this government is really all about and that is ensuring that these companies can make gigantic profits out of us. This will come either through endless state subsidies that go to private companies to “encourage” (in reality bribe) them to invest. The other way of course is to lower the price of labour in Britain to the point where employing workers in certain industries is profitable again. This is the only way that the ruling class can actually obtain the reindustrialisation that all the bourgeois political parties say they want. This will only be done if the companies can make profit out of the labour of the workers employed in these industries. This is what lies behind both labour and the Tories being totally committed to special economic zones, these are a way of creating areas in the country where they will look to make the cost of labour as cheap as possible. The plan clearly is to create non-union, low rights parts of the workforce that can be hyper-exploited. The British ruling class’s strategists aren’t totally stupid, they know that if they tried to do this all in one go then there would be a revolt. What they are aiming to do is to create more jobs in these zones over time which will soon become the only place that millions of workers can find work. Workers will be forced into them, just as they were into the mills two centuries ago, by the fact that trying to work outside of these zones will become increasingly difficult.
That is the plan here and Starmer did not design it, he is merely delivering it on behalf of the ruling class. The attacks from the ruling class are to be expected but the reason why the capitalists have turned to the labour party is because they need Starmer and his collaborators in the trade union leadership to sell this rotten stuff to the working class or to derail any opposition to it. As we often say here at the CCP, the first enemy for our class to overcome are its own supposed leaders. Working class resistance will emerge to this assault and it must break free of the treacherous control of the TUC hierarchy if we are to succeed in taking our struggle forward
