Trump’s behaviour towards Canada results in a Carney victory and the Liberals being re-elected. Much smug satisfaction from the liberal left.
All hail Mark Carney, a longtime multi-millionaire with 13 years in senior positions with Goldman Sachs who has worked in investment banking, emerging debt in capital markets and sovereign risk. What a noble career trajectory.
Carney left Goldman Sachs to work for the Bank of Canada, quickly becoming Governor. During this time he was also Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements’ Committee on the Global Financial System, in addition to being a member of the Group of Thirty – an international body of financiers – and on the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum.
He left the Bank of Canada to become Governor of the Bank of England (2013 – 2020), a position he turned down several times until the salary and remuneration package was doubled.
From 2020 to 2024 he advised Justin Trudeau whilst also working for Brookfield Asset Management and now, to the delight of liberals and progressives around the world, he is the PM of Canada.
Truly a positive step forwards for the Canadian working class.
We imagine those in the mass media who penned articles about a rising and resurgent resistance against Trump will consider Carney’s victory as evidence of this resistance. This is how it’s done. Our mass media set the parameters of the debate, and we choose a side – Trump versus any arch transnational capitalist who is not Trump, in this case Carney.
That’s it – pick a side. Be a neo-Nazi, crypto-fascist, racist and support Trump; or demonstrate your progressive credentials and humanity by supporting any international gangster who is not Trump.
Of course there is another way – don’t let them set the parameters of the debate – in fact, refuse to participate in any such debate; because it’s not a debate, it’s a trap.
We don’t choose between one set of capitalists or another.
We don’t choose to participate in the farce of capitalist democracy.
We choose to acknowledge our working-class credentials, which are in direct opposition to those of the capitalist class.
We either choose to live in chains as wage slaves in a capitalist society or we fight for our freedom as equal members of a socialist society.
