But there was no one left to protest.

This isn’t a piece about farming, it’s about the rights that we have had stripped away from us.
We need to grow our own food. We as a nation have gone from 80% self sufficient to 64% since the end of WWII. You only have to see the labels on supermarket produce to know this.
But this is not my point, the point is that we as a nation, as a people and a class have been told that we must not protest. We must accept the status quo.
The media, a tool of the establishment has told us that only hippies and students protest. It’s also told us that if you are left wing you support Palestine and the environment. If you’re right wing, you protest against immigration or for landowning farmers.
Farmers are protesting about the imposed inheritance tax on farms worth £1 million or more. This may seem fair to some, but many farmers have land worth that, but do not have the income to pay such a tax, due to the contracts they have with supermarkets.
If we had state owned farms, providing work and food for our country, this wouldn’t even be an issue. That is not even my point.
If we sacrifice the right to protest or dissent, we are always going to be subjects of the ruling class, no matter how different our political views are.
Unless you are a landowner, a farmer is as working class as anyone. Anyone in Britain, Palestine, or anywhere else in the world.
Protest is the least thing we can do to attack our class enemies. Even if your protest is against the wrong enemy, that right should not be taken away. Our enemies are our rulers and they can and have taken this right from us and it is now being shown how it can affect every one of us.
